Launch of the CMO Annual Report 2020-21

The Chief Medical Officer has today published his annual report for 2020 – 2021: Recover, Restore, Renew.

The report provides the opportunity to reflect on our shared experience of the pandemic and highlight areas of good practice and innovation over the last year. It also provides the opportunity for us to identify areas that require more attention.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for change. We should not only be dealing with the consequences of the pandemic; we also need to broaden our focus to confront other urgent issues, such as the climate crisis. As we remobilise services, we need to consider how we can build towards a greener society and a more sustainable healthcare system. This year’s annual report reflects on the above themes and encourages us to build on this momentum for change, as we “Recover, Restore, Renew” our health and care services.

The report can now be downloaded from the Scottish Government website here.
